Key Programmes

Engaging the mass

Mother Tongue Language (MTL) Fortnight

During MTL Fortnight 2026, students participated in a range of school-based and external activities designed to deepen their understanding and appreciation of the uniqueness of their Mother Tongue Language and culture. These experiences aim to spark students’ interest, nurture their curiosity, and encourage them to become inquisitive learners.

Students are given opportunities to take part in hands-on activities and to share their learning confidently with teachers and peers in their Mother Tongue Language. Since 2025, lower primary students have also been given the opportunity to showcase their talents in singing, dancing, and acting through Fiesta Bahasa Permata Cilik.

Enabling budding learners

Mother Tongue Support Programme (MTSP)

Malay Department has embarked on the Mother Tongue Support Programme (MTSP) since 2020. The programme aims to provide additional support for Primary 3 and Primary 4 students in the learning of Mother Tongue Language (MTL).

MTSP lessons are specifically designed to be more interactive and engaging to instil joy of learning. Bite-sized teaching resources are used to build a strong foundation in the pupil’s oral and literacy skills to bridge some learning gaps.
